Cultural Hangout Festival (CHF)

The Cultural Hangout Festival (CHF) is a vibrant celebration of Africa’s cultural richness and diversity, designed to bring together Africans, the diaspora, and lovers of African heritage in a shared moment of connection and pride. Set to take place in London from May 24th to 26th, 2025, the festival will culminate on the final day with a Gala Night and networking opportunities. this groundbreaking event is organized to celebrate Africa Day, offering a unique platform to commemorate the continent’s legacy, celebrate its diverse traditions, and inspire a renewed sense of unity.

Brief History of Africa Day

Africa Day, celebrated annually on May 25, marks the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, now the African Union (AU). The OAU, which was later succeeded by the African Union (AU) in 2002, was established to promote unity, solidarity, and cooperation among African nations as they sought to overcome the legacy of colonialism and apartheid.

Africa Day is an opportunity to honor Africa’s resilience, cultural diversity, and global contributions. It also highlights key issues such as economic growth, social justice, human rights, and regional integration, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Addressing a Critical Need

The African diaspora is one of the world’s most dynamic and influential global communities. However, many within this community face a growing disconnect from their cultural roots, making it challenging to preserve traditional values, practices, and languages—elements central to African identity. Without consistent celebrations of Africa’s rich heritage, the bonds of unity and connection among Africans living abroad have been increasingly difficult to maintain.

In response, Africa Multicultural & Heritage Promotion Ltd (AMHP)has created CHF to bridge this gap. CHF is more than a festival; it is a platform to reconnect Africans with their roots, celebrate the richness of African culture, and foster unity across continents. Through immersive cultural showcases and meaningful dialogue, CHF aims to inspire pride in African heritage and strengthen global connections.

Overarching Vision

The Cultural Hangout Festival aspires to be a global stage where Africans and the diaspora come together to celebrate a shared identity and heritage, transcending geographic and cultural boundaries.

Festival Objectives

The Cultural Hangout Festival is designed to:

Reconnect Africans in the diaspora with their cultural roots by showcasing the diverse heritage of African countries.
